In my experience, I have seen what a great book can do for a student; watching a student become consumed in their reading is a magical thing. Although my students have 120 minutes dedicated specifically to reading every day, reading is something that is incorporated into every aspect of education (and life). If a student struggles in reading, there is a good chance they will struggle in other academic areas. I want nothing more than to give them the chance to fall in love with literature in the way that I am. By giving students the opportunity to read books that they will be fully engaged in, they will become strong, successful readers. Good reading attitudes/behaviors are crucial for a bright future.
