My classroom is full of 20 energetic students who see the bright side in everything they do. They come from a low income neighborhood, and many from Spanish speaking families. They come in with minimal knowledge of how books work, and very little knowledge of the English alphabet and the letter names and sounds. With parents who speak very little or no English, we must take any route possible to help our students reach grade level standards.
