I teach at a charter school, where my 30 students all receive free lunch. There are a few things that make my school, and my classroom, special. The first is that we do not receive a large amount of outside funding, we are not beholden to a company with deep pockets, which is a blessing and a curse. Our school has the same financial issues as the public schools that surround us, but we have a small school feel. We are 100% free lunch, and have a 95% black student population. My students are very hardworking and love coming to school every day, we get to do lots of fun activities even with the sparse supplies and funding we have.
