I love teaching 8th grade because my students are exploring who they are and the world around them. My students are constantly questioning and trying to learn more about their world; their curiosity and ability to make connections never ceases to amaze me. Our school has a unique STEM program where about a third of our students have applied to attend our school and two-thirds come from our local area. This gives us an enormous level of diversity within our school. Many of our students have parents in STEM fields with doctorate degrees and we also have a number of students working towards becoming the first member of their family to attend college. This diversity creates amazing opportunities for collaboration since they have so many different perspectives, ideas, and strengths. All my students amaze me every day with their creativity and how they take any task or question assigned to them and make it their own.
