I am entering my third year of teaching and will have my first classroom of my own, EEK! I am over the moon for this incredible opportunity and to guide and grow my students and set them up for success in their future years at school.
I will be working at a school that serves low income families. I want to provide the best books for them to engage their learning and build up an excitement for literacy. The goal of having a large library is to give the students options for books to pick from to explore on their own as well as whole group reading and exploring together with questions to engage their learning.
When I was a child, having books read to me was a favorite activity that instilled a love of reading that I use in my adult life. I cannot wait to instill that love of reading in my little leaders.
I also included some organizational tools on the list as well to ensure our classroom is organized and students have a clear understanding of where supplies is located, especially since they will be in pre-k! As well as dry erase dots to utilize during small group work to ensure students are growing and can actively engage and participate in the work! The magnetic racks are for our whiteboards to proudly display the books we will be reading that day to spark interest and curiosity. They can also look at the front covers of the books to begin thinking of what it will be about. Also, classroom border for our bulletin boards that will proudly display student work!
I want them to believe that they can change the world!
