Our school is an urban public school that serves 225 PreK through sixth grade students from underserved communities. Unfortunately we don't have the budget to afford a visual art teacher, but believe in the importance that this education brings to children. For that reason, we are asking for the funds to support three - one week residences (one per trimester) in which our students will be able to make authentic art taught by a practicing artist. The funds we are asking for will pay for the cost to bring three different individuals in and will also cover the cost for all art materials needed. The only way this visual arts education will be able to occur is through your generous donation. At the end of each experience, students will write an artist statement and our school will have a "gallery night" in which every students' artwork will be on display to show off to their families and our school community
