The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students will be put to use almost immediately. We need your help in getting books, so students can start thinking about what they want to explore. The books ordered will be used for independent reading, literature circles, book talks, and class discussions. At the end of the semester, students will take the book you helped fund and develop an in-depth inquiry research project. Students will use the book to develop a global issue that is taking place in today’s society. After reading the text, students will be able to develop an art mural, documentary, public service announcement, etc. Parents, administrators, and local members of the town will be invited to view the issues students decide to explore in their selected books. The donations to this project will help to improve my students' understanding of world literature. They will be able to participate in a life-long learning process. In order to teach appreciation for other cultures, and combat the negativity taking place in the world, these funds will allow a safe space that tolerates and embraces diversity.
