My students are excited by learning and have dreams to "get smart and go to college." They have a love for learning that is so genuine and are excited about the challenges of writing letters and reading words that awaits them. My school is in a extremely high poverty area and under performing school with less than 1% of students proficient in reading and math at their grade level. As a first year teacher at this school, I want to give my students a strong start in Kindergarten. I want to foster my students eagerness to learn and succeed by creating a strong classroom culture and community.
