My students are from the most diverse borough of New York City, Queens. Because of this, our population is made up of many English language learners. My classroom is comprised of mostly students of Asian decent and Hispanic decent. Our school receives Title I funding to help support the needs of our students. The funding is allotted towards cultural programs and educating our students on the importance of fitness and nutrition. Most of my students come from hardworking immigrant families. Therefore, their parents spend a significant amount of time away from home. Unfortunately, my students do not get to spend a lot of quality time with their parents. They really look forward to coming to school and spending time with their teachers and peers.
