Multicultural literature is especially important for students who are learning English as a second language and among peers who are from cultures and traditions different from their own. The books that I have selected will help my students to broaden their horizons and continue to learn about a world outside of their everyday life as well as having literature that reflects and connects to their own culture. The best way to promote engagement and excitement is to provide a wide array of multicultural literature for my students. This helps students to learn as well as be challenged in their thinking. Multicultural literature will help me to foster a classroom full of students who appreciate the many cultures that make up our community.
