My students currently use science notebooks to have artifacts of their learning to refer back to and to engage in class. These notebooks are currently stored in stacks by period at the back of my room. When students enter the classroom, the first thing they do is collect their science notebooks. These books often get jostled out of their stacks and keeping them organized is a constant struggle. Using up precious time in our 47 minute period to find and fix notebooks is a waste. There are many materials in this project to help streamline our classroom and the organization crates is just one example. Additionally, there are many creative materials in this project. We often make scientific models either in our notebooks, or outside. Right now students basically have access to the pencil they bring with them and some very old colored pencils that are in the classroom. In order for them to feel inspired to express their knowledge accurately and thoroughly they need inspirational quality materials. Many of the creative materials in this project, posters, colored pencils, markers, and so on will help my students feel as though they have the materials they need to accurately express their knowledge in ways that feel fun and accurate. Thank you so much for your help, it is truly appreciated.
