At GPS there has never been a self-contained special education classroom. Therefore, we are starting from scratch. The classroom will not be a typical general education classroom and will cater to the special learning needs of our atypical students. The space will be geared toward the sensory and physical limitations of our students based on the needs and comfort requirements. We will focus not only on curriculum, but on day to day life skills necessary to succeed outside our school walls. Not only that, the students will have access to sensory toys and hands-on activities that encourage learning in their free-time. My goal is to create a self-contained classroom where students have access to the necessary resources and tools that encourage a happy and safe learning space; space where students will have the freedom to progress at their own pace in an enjoyable yet productive environment. Our mission is to create a successful program that will last years on our campus. It will be a place where our students can thrive; it will give them opportunities to experience learning in a way that wasn´t previously available on our campus. We are ambitious in our pursuits but feel our students deserve access to the best education available to them. Whatever you donate, will go directly to the classroom to give these students and future students to come, a place where they can thrive. Items will be used to create task boxes, hands on activities and allow for movement in the classroom!
