Reading is so incredibly important for children. It allows them to escape reality, go on an adventure, learn about something new, and so much more. It is important to be able to see themselves in our stories, and the stories I have chosen really represent a lot of different cultures. As a first-year teacher, I have been gathering books for my classroom, but it never seems to be enough for my students. I do not have as many books as I would want to allow my students to have a wide variety, and I know a classroom library takes years and years to build, but I would like a good start. These books will be available for students to take home for reading at home, and a deep sanitizing when they return to our classroom. Therefore, these books will help educate my students both at school and at home.
