We are Thunderbirds! A fifth grade class across the street from Nellis Air Force Base. With a high transiency rate, our class is culturally and geographically diverse with students coming from around the country, Las Vegas Valley and Mexico. We are excited when we attempt scientific experiments and take part in our Math Olympics. Sometimes we struggle with our lessons but we are learning conflict resolution and critical thinking skills. As a Leader In Me school, our fifth grade classes are the leaders of the schools and support are younger classmates as ambassadors and tutors. Although we are supported by Nellis and their Flying Thunderbirds, we are a school located in a food desert and local analysis shows a high crime rate. That does not deter us from our excitement to be leaders and academically determined. We are Thunderbirds. We are dedicated, caring and we persevere.
