Have you ever been handed a hardback by a friend and told "just read this!"?!? My students are enriching their reading lives not only by checking out titles from my classroom, but also by doing Book Talks where they speak about a recent book in a way that makes other students want to read them! I want my students to have the opportunity to check out novels from my classroom library that represent who they are a humans. Hardback copies are more durable and lend themselves to being checked out more often. By providing hardback copies for students to check out, a message is sent that they are worth deserving the best. Award winning novels are a natural list to compile a wishlist from.
