By providing students with choice over how they learn—whether that be standing, seating, wiggling, or wobbling—I can simultaneously increase student engagement and excitement in the classroom AND decrease classroom distractions. Over the past 11 weeks, I’ve seen a huge increase in on task behaviors and student ownership when my students have the option to complete their work in a swivel chair, at the teacher’s desk, or standing by the computer cart. I’ve also found that my most “challenging” students thrive when they are able to have input in their learning. And so, with the 5 adjustable Hokki stools, my students will no longer have to choose between focusing on their academics and getting rid of their excess energy. Flexible seating allows my students to wiggly, wobble, and shake – all while they work silently and independently in class. Additionally, the 4 sets of Bouncy Bands will allow students to work quietly, have fun, and decrease off task behaviors and distractions. Finally, the portable dry erase board will allow students to show their work whether they choose to sit or stand.
