In my classroom at Off Campus Instruction, I will teach three classes twice a day: math, science, and a social-emotional-cognitive (SEC) class. I taught environmental science to students at a tech and design college and observed how the practical nature of this area of science can motivate hands-on learners. I will plan learning units which are project-based in order to connect with my students. Math problems will be tied directly to the science curriculum for a real-life framework for our efforts. Additionally, by working on coping skills such as drawing, gratitude awareness, and journaling, along with methods for improving memory (like memorizing math facts while dribbling a basketball), and learning how we learn, we will calm our minds and find room in our brains for math and science discovery!
