Our students are fortunate enough to have technology in their core classrooms that provide instant resources to deeper knowledge, challenge students, and allow educators to collect data on academic growth. Our specialists teams do not have access to additional technology. I am asking for a set of iPads (20 or more) to be donated and shared only between our specialists departments--physical education, art, and music. As we advance in technology, many people have more access to develop specialty skill sets from the comfort of their own couch, such as graphic designs or beat mixing. Our department lacks technology to show these youth how easy success is no matter the skill set or medium of their choice. We hope to use these iPads to create virtual labs for students to create and submit assignments through various apps and programs. This access to technology will also allow us access to additional teaching resources and alternative work for distance learning if needed.
With this technology we aim to engage a higher percent of students no matter the level of skill or style of learning. It will help us collect data for a more accurate representation of academic growth, making us more aware educators. Having technology like this allows students to see their growth before their own eyes, instantly. Much of our specials is trial and error, and many of our students lack ambition. We want a new way to ignite our students to take charge of what they're learning and to have a desire to complete or even create their own assignments that not only meet success criteria but to turn in work that students are really proud of.
Please help us remind these students what they are all capable of.
