Hello! My school Uplift Peak (Title 1) is planning on being VIRTUAL for the 1st quarter of the school year. As a first year teacher, I am hyper aware on searching for what to give my students to make sure they can learn from HOME amidst this pandemic.
To make virtual learning this quarter a SUCCESS, I envision my students each having a personal set of supplies at home WITHOUT needing to ask more of the parents. (Maybe like you), MANY of our families have been financially affected by the after effects of COVID-19 like: being unemployed, needing to find caretakers, and being at home parents/teachers/spouses. Individual supplies set up students for success at home and IF we return to school, sharing will no longer be a safe option so the students will be able to keep their supply sets all year!
Do you remember the first day of school being excited to see everyone's brand new school supplies? Many students got uncomfortable their parents could not buy them all the supplies on the school list. Therefore, teachers gather all materials and SHARE it among everyone for equitable learning. This is not possible this year.
As a teacher, I can control what I teach to my students, but I CANNOT change what their home environment will be like. Please consider supporting my 4th graders to start off 2020 in a more prepared virtual learning environment.
**I understand these are highly uncertain times of financial stability and political chaos, so THANK YOU for even reading this post. Please SHARE if you can, and thank you in advance for supporting my 4th grade babies!
