My students are a wonderful group of fifth graders who love learning. Our school is a public school with 95% of our students receiving free lunch. Out of 302 students, 54% are Black and 39% Hispanic and the rest are mixed/other. Many of our families have recently emigrated to the US. My students are 22 happy and energetic fifth graders. It is an ICT class, with a high percentage of special needs children. Most of them come from low income families with various cultural backgrounds and languages. The classroom is where they have the opportunity to have fun and learn at the same time. As a teacher in a low-income, high poverty school district, my students are faced with challenges both in and out of school. Even with these challenges my students come eager to learn. They are sweet, inquisitive, and very energetic.
