Literacy building and comprehension are key. These materials and books will assist students in understanding topics that are not easily grasped. The request for books that have written words in both Spanish and English are so helpful. US history and Geography for a child who has spent their entire lives in another country are incredibly difficult topics to comprehend. Reading books about figures, i.e. the Ordinary People Change the World series, simplifies information in a fun and visual way. I'd like to open their minds to the importance of recycling and being/becoming global citizens (hence the battery recycling bins project).
