I am an English Language Arts and Spanish elective teacher in a large public school district in the Greater Los Angeles area. I teach English Language Arts to 155 8th graders in a Gifted/Highly Gifted magnet within a public middle school. My average class size is 35-40. My students are identified as gifted and highly gifted, My school is designated by our district as a Title 1 school and many of our students are eligible for free lunches. We also participate in a district program that provides dinners at no cost to students and our community members based upon a need that has been established by our school district. Our school is defined as a PLBAO school; comprised primarily of Latino, Black, Asian and Other in its population.
