I am a Moderately Intellectually Disabled Special Education teacher. I teach at a South Atlanta Title I middle school. Students who attend my school receive free breakfast and lunch. In addition, the majority of students are being raised in low income, single parent homes. Within my self-contained, special needs classroom, we create tons of projects as well as, conduct many labs and experiments that help me facilitate true, in-depth knowledge and learning! I've requested tech and classroom items as added learning tools for our special classroom. These items would definitely help make their STEM projects and lessons come to life! Studies have proven that, "assistive technologies help special-needs students thrive academically and keep up with their peers." "In fact, many technologies designed for mainstream use can be successfully repurposed to teach students with disabilities."
