I teach a special day class. My students are low-income, at-risk, English language learners each with their own unique challenges. I have students with a wide variety of disabilities including autism, physical handicaps, and intellectual disabilities. One of the priorities in my class is work together as a team, and to recognize each individual's contribution to the group. All of my students sometimes find it hard to realize their own gifts in the face of so many adversities, which is why I am so committed to helping them see how amazing they are. My students work hard everyday to learn and grow. I want to make sure that even though they come from a low-income area and school they still have access to the education every student deserves.
