The students in my school don't realize that they go to school in a district in such a high-poverty area that everyone in the district receives free breakfast and lunch. It's not understood because at this fine arts and science school the teachers and administration show these children what respect, science and art will allow them to do in the future. These students go to a school where they learn music is able to transport them to new places, science shows how organic farming can increase your health and art is a language in itself. They understand that a drum beat aids them in learning math and that art projects are about processes, not products. These young scholars are educated to understand that trying your best will allow you to achieve your dreams. The school building itself is almost 100 years old and in some cases, shows the wear and tear, but all the teachers make their classrooms warm, safe places for students that might not have any other consistency in their lives.
