When my sixth graders get to my classroom, I have one desire for them. My desire is that they feel comfortable to express themselves as an individual. One way to do this is choice reading. Simply having the ability to choose what they want to read about, explore about, and experience. The books I’ve chosen are based on overall student interest, with the majority being book series in order to capture them and keep them hooked. For my students, I want reading to be just as addicting as their favorite chocolate or Netflix series. In order to achieve this, the books in my classroom library need to appeal to their middle school minds and keep them engaged. Through the books I'll gain in this project, become spy allies with Alex Rider, discover the true meaning of family with Willow Change, and simply relax from the world around them. These popular books and book series have the power of creating such a large life tool belt for my students. This tool belt will be equipped with life lessons, a great amount of new vocabulary words, and an imagination that can spread as wide as the universe.
