My students are in grades K-5 attending Miami Gardens Elementary School home to economically disadvantaged, English Language Learners (ELL) and Black non-Hispanic students. With this population, my students are unfortunately at-risk to high crime, poverty, homelessness, unemployment, poor health, poor fitness and poor nutrition, patiently waiting for them outside of the school gates. Consequently, the school is a Title I school with a 95% Economically Disadvantaged (FRL) Rate.
