My third grade students come from a very poor area in the city. Most of them are either in single parent homes, being raised by a family member/family friend, or in foster care. Our school is a Title I school and all of our students are on free meals. We do all we can to help them realize they can be more than what society thinks they will become. I want them to see that they can not only have dreams, but fulfill them by working hard and not giving up. I don't want them to feel as if they are defined by their economical status. I want to teach them to enjoy their world!
