My students are a curious and eager group of kindergarteners. For most, this is their first school experience. Although they are only five years old, some of my students come into my classroom ready to defend themselves against others due to the dangerous neighborhoods in the school's zone. It's my job to make each child feel safe and welcome at school each day. Most five year olds are consumed with play over the summer. Unfortunately, many of my students are forced to learn the "ways of the street" far too early. They learn to fight back and defend themselves in whatever way possible. My goal is to inspire my students to be kind to one another and learn problem solving skills. Bullying is simply not an option for future success.
