Frye is a Title I school. This means that most of our students come from low income homes or areas of poverty. Over 90% of our student population qualifies for free or reduced-price lunch. Many students have to deal with problems beyond the scope of a child's understanding every day when they leave school. Despite these hardships, they are such sweet rays of sunshine. I have never worked with children who are so enthusiastic and so grateful. They truly enjoy being involved in the learning process, and are so thankful to have teachers and staff that care for them at school. I would describe Frye as a loving school. We provide before and after school care for students, to foster a nurturing environment. In the classroom, teachers work with the whole class, small groups, and individuals to meet the needs of every student. As the music teacher, I see a love for singing and playing instruments in our students and I want to foster that love and let them sing and play even more!
