Our school-wide goal is for students to grow 1.5 years in their reading grade level equivalent, and my personal goal is to provide students with reading strategies that will prepare them for future academic endeavors. The donations to this project will ensure that my students have a stimulating unit that fosters a love for reading and the opportunity to increase their reading levels. The curriculum provided for our class is full of complex, grade-level texts with which my students have difficulty engaging and comprehending. With texts at their level, and the supplies they need, students will be more motivated to read and will begin improving as readers, critical thinkers, and writers.
