I teach and tutor mostly new immigrants who are struggling to read and write in English and other content areas follow the pattern as all content areas need English as a fundamental step towards success in academics. Currently, the needs of my students are not met at home so I am trying to give them a good experience at school to succeed later and develop a love for learning. Students do not have stimulating learning experiences in poverty ridden homes so giving them enrichment activities in math and literacy will help in becoming readers who are leaders for life. My students live in a poverty ridden part of the city and are largely in poverty themselves. I teach and tutor mostly special education students for three districts: Saint Paul Public schools, Anoka-Hennepin school district and North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale school district. These are all public school districts in the state of Minnesota.
