My amazing middle school students in urban East Harlem, New York City, are a diverse bunch with big dreams and big ideas. They are inquisitive and determined to do their best despite the hardships they may face. My students love learning best through experiences and hands-on activities, experiments and trips. Students at our school mainly come from low-income households and immigrant families where English is a new language. Most students qualify for free or reduced lunch, special education services and ENL services. Additionally, our school offers an Autism Spectrum Disorder Nest Program.
