My students face many difficult challenges in and out of school. My kids live in extreme poverty in a very violent neighborhood. 100% of them receive free or reduced priced lunch. To top off these challenges, our school has an extended school day, which means my students attend school for more hours a day than other elementary students average in an effort to bridge their huge learning gaps. Historically, our school has been one of the lowest performing schools in our state- but we are changing that! It is an exciting and empowering time for teachers and students alike at our school! Despite all of our challenges, my students come to school ready to learn and are excited to be there. They are incredible kids that are on a mission to be successful and make their dreams come true and I will do anything and everything I can to help them achieve these goals!
