I believe math manipulatives and chapter books will make a difference in my students' learning because it will enhance their opportunity to grow as learners. Having additional resources in the classroom allows for additional practice, and therefore, skills that need to be focused in on, can be, simply because we have the resources to do so. Some of our fifth grade content areas, like math and reading, were shortened due to bridging the fourth grade gap. Some of my students still need help with basic multiplication skills. These skills are essential to be able to progress to the next standard, two digit by two digit multiplication. My hope is for my students to have more resources at school, especially when they do not have the resources at home. As a new teacher, I do believe it is my duty to provide the best learning experience for my students. With the help of these resources I will be able to do so.
