As English teachers, we are (naturally) book lovers. This year, our 9th grade team selected a book list meant to engage, challenge, and further our students' personal and academic growth. These books will undoubtedly spark deep conversations surrounding literature and society as a whole. By donating to our project, you not only provide our West Dallas students with books to read, annotate, and enjoy as their own; you will ultimately be enabling them to become lifelong learners and readers. We were intentional in selecting a range of diverse stories and authors, hoping that students will be able to see themselves somewhere in the texts. This project will be updated as the year continues to reflect our reading assignments throughout the semesters, starting with our first book of the year only (as the following are potentially subject to change). Our current reading list is: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by JK Rowling The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros Night by Elie Weisel Hidden Figures by Margot Lee Shetterly Thank you for your donation to our classroom - you are furthering the education of the next generation!
