I am requesting a 3D printer for my 5th grade students because I would love for them to have the opportunity to have access to create their own objects. I believe that my students should be exposed to new technology that will allow them to express themselves. Art is a way students can express themselves in STEM. Even though our community has limited resources, that should not be an impediment for my students. I want my students to have access to technology that they do not know exist, such as a 3D printer, filament, and tools needed for the process of creating 3D objects. I would like my students to see, touch, and use a 3D printer and come up with an object that will help them or benefit their community or classroom environment. Therefore they can take ownership and become empowered that they are capable of many things and even more. Working in teams is something very important in our class environment because that is what happens in the real world; working and collaborating with others. I would love my students to have a memorable experience and have access to the new technology used in the 21st century. Please help my students become innovative thinkers and inventors. This is why I am requesting 3D printer to create their projects. In addition to this I am requesting filament and tools to remove the 3D objects from the 3D machine. The 3D objects will inspired creativity and empowerment in STEM and ART.
