Welcome to our 7th-grade English Language Arts classroom! Every day, our room brings together a vibrant group of multilingual learners and native English speakers. As a co-teaching team combining ELA and English as a New Language (ENL) instruction, our goal is to create a safe, supportive space where every student feels ready to read, write, and express themselves. Middle school is a time of immense growth, but for middle schoolers in a high-poverty community, simple daily hurdles can become major distractions. Coming to school hungry, lacking personal hygiene items, or missing basic supplies like pencils and notebooks can make a student feel anxious or self-conscious. It is nearly impossible to analyze a text or acquire a new language when you are worrying about basic needs. When students know their physical and emotional needs are cared for, their stress decreases and their ability to learn soars. Your contribution directly removes daily barriers, allowing our 7th graders to focus on what matters most: growing as readers, writers, and confident English speakers. Thank you for wrapping your support around our kids!
