My students love to learn using a hands-on and visual approach to learning. We are trying to encourage group work and partner talk during our reading and writing workshop. Post-its and Sharpies are helpful and a a good way to engage students in activities in literacy to share their own ideas and encourage partner talk and group work. My students also like to read books that they don't find too difficult. Biography nonfiction books will help motivate students with special needs during conferencing and/or guided reading. These resources will help a community of eager, happy third grade learners in literacy.
