My students would be so excited to add a Macbook to our technology tools in our classroom. Due to most of their low socioeconomic background, some of the students have not had a chance to learn how to use a computer. The Mac Book will be used to learn how to type, to conduct research on animals and their habitat, and to use digital learning programs like RAZ Kids and SKIES learn. Students will have an opportunity to learn how to use a computer, will be exposed to technology, obtain technological accommodations such as text to speech and language translation all by conducting a fun research project about an animal of their choice. Some students don't have access to technology or internet at home. This Mac Book will allow us to use technology for learning. It will be used for reading centers with audiobooks, HeadSprout, SKIES learn, educational videos, progress monitoring and assessing. Most of the students I work with have accommodations in their Individualized Education Plan that provides them with accommodations such as visual supports, videos, text to speech and speech to text that can be accessed through the MacBook. Please help me give my students the opportunity to open the doors to technology.
