Cascades High School is a transfer school on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Being a transfer school means that my students are all considered over-age (17 to 21) and under-credited. Students will learn with us for anywhere from 4 months to 3 years. My students come from every borough in NYC, represent dozens of communities, and went on very different journeys to arrive at our doors. They don't fall into traditional grades or trajectories to graduation. My students are some of the most resilient learners our city has to offer, and they are passionate about earning their high school diplomas. Their creativity and fresh perspectives impress me every single day.
