Having a computer in my classroom that students can use will provide my students with extended opportunities to use technology when solving math problems. Students in the 21st century need to know how to use this technology to better organize and communicate ideas, algorithms, and solutions to problems. Since we follow a standards-based curriculum, it is important to develop not only conceptual understanding and mathematical fluency, but application skills that can be used in new situations and in future academic endeavors and/or careers. The computer will provide my students with the tools they need to meet their learning goals in my class. The computer will also allow my students to learn how to interface several types of technology hardware to accomplish the student designed tasks they will create in my class.
The donations to this project will help to improve my students' computer skills and knowledge of presentation software when used in solving real world problems and will help prepare them to be college or career ready.
My students will not only use this computer for student learning, they will be able to connect it to a printer to print projects, reports, or assignments if they do not have access to a computer and printer at home. I will use it to provide more effective communication and feedback on assignments and assessments. I will also use it as a blackboard for their assignments and projects.
