Help me to fund my students collage project. A Personal Narrative Collage is a self portrait that also includes images about their lives and cultures. For example, we studied a collage on our field trip at the RISD Museum that included a self portrait of the artist collaged with comic books, religious iconography, currency, and images of his Congolese father, floating in a sea of colored paint. My students are interested in making their own Personal Narrative Collages inspired by this artwork. Because my students come from such diverse backgrounds and have limited English Proficiency, examining their lives through imagery is a great way for them to express themselves and to share their unique stories. We will need a canvas for each student, as well paints, brushes and gel mediums to share to make this collage project a reality. I envision that when we combine all are individual self portraits together we will have a nice, colorful, interesting representation of ourselves, or cultures and our shared histories.
