One area my students struggle with is beginning to read. Learning to read at a young age is imperative to their future success in and out of school. Many of them enter my classroom not yet reading and are far-below grade-level. My hope is they leave my classroom reading on grade-level. The requested trays will be used to organize the space used to store these supplies for Centers. Using books with CDs and read-along resources during Centers time will help my student build fluency, sight word recognition, and proper phrasing and expression. These are important skills for building life-long readers which is part of my classroom vision. Time for Kids magazines engage readers and teaches students about important topics that they may not have access to elsewhere. These resources would also help boost their confidence and self-esteem when it comes to reading and will reflect on their overall performance in school.
