We are a public charter school in an inner-city neighborhood with very limited funding. One hundred percent of our students qualify for free and reduced lunch, and many have faced more hardships at age 6 than some people will face in a lifetime. Yet despite all of the challenges my students face, they come to school each day with big smiles on their faces. They are motivated and excited to learn. I love to see their eyes light up when they sound out a new word or solve a math problem. For students in such a high-poverty school, one of the biggest challenges is keeping enrollment high. If my students do not develop a love of learning now, they are likely to drop out one day down the road. We can prevent this!! A projector is one small step toward making school even more engaging and exciting for this truly amazing group of children.
