I am requesting that will help my students learn at home until we can return to the classroom safely. My district has been able to provide every student with a Chromebook for home learning. However, many of my students share a small space with their family. When several children are all on their devices at once, the cacophony can make it a challenge for any child to concentrate! I am asking for a class set of headphones. With headphones, my students will be able to focus on their learning without disrupting other learners. When we return to school, we will continue to use these in the classroom to support differentiated and project-based learning. I am also asking for a class set of Jason Reynolds' "Ghost". This wonderful book provides both mirrors and windows for my students, as well as offering us an incredible novel to let us explore characterization, language, and writer's craft. Although we cannot be together, a shared novel builds both academic skill and community at a distance.
