There is related research that shows that the more the students are engaged in the classroom, regardless of the subject manner, they actually have fun learning and want to come to school therefore increasing attendance. This increase in attendance can help students with academic achievement, improve district and state testing, and help the schools with daily funding. We want to empower students to have choices, which will empower them to become more independent. Fewer conflicts means more collaboration, and a stronger sense of community within the classroom; creativity, and critical thinking in small/whole groups, mimics a real-world environment where students are expected to be able to work together.
