Rosa Parks Elementary is a public, K-5 school designated as a CSI/TSI site and one of Oregon’s Most Struggling Schools. Comprehensive Support and Improvement and Targeted Support and Improvement (CSI/TSI) school designations are the result of decades of chronic, systemic underinvestment in communities of color and low-income communities throughout Oregon. “Most Struggling Schools” reflects Oregon’s lack of collective support of students - it is in no way a reflection of our kids and their infinite potential. My students are brilliant, kind, and incredibly in need of emotional support and resources. They are under-achieving and struggling academically. They are primarily students of color living in a targeted area of low-income housing. 100% of students receive free breakfast, lunch, and snacks. 100% of students are capable and deserving of a quality educational experience that will allow them to launch.
