Wipe boards are great tools for math. When students are challenged with a math question and are presented with a board to show their thinking, they have the opportunity to think, solve and show before sharing with classmates and the teacher. Dry-erase boards empower students to focus on their own ways to solve a given math question. When students are expected to show their math thinking, they become more critical and reflective of their strategies. They become their own teacher by choosing strategies that might yell more appropriate and logical results. When students show their thinking on dry erase boards, teachers can do a quick assessment and provide students with prompt constructive questions or suggestions.
