Kindergarten standards and curriculum has become very academic. It is no longer just to learn your colors, basic numbers, ABC's, and social skills. Many students do not come to school with these skills and it is my job to make sure every student finds success in Kindergarten. Being able to implement small group instruction to teach to the different learning styles of my students is a strong strategy that can help everyone find success in meeting grade level standards. Having a special space in our classroom completely dedicated to teaching small groups and individuals will make a huge impact towards reaching their Kindergarten goals. This will allow the teacher to target individual needs of each student and focus on teaching their reading, writing, and math skills to mastery. What students learn this year is critical because Kindergarten is their first experience in a school setting and the foundation for all the grades that follow.
